Mah-jongg Counting Stick Earrings
Like many Jewish grandmothers in New York at her time, mine played games of Mahi-jongg with her girlfriends. These earrings are in honor of my grandmother, Sylvia, who lived on Long Island, taught me how to body surf the waves, dig for clams in the sand (and make clam chowder), balance on-point, and do the Twist to Dick Clark’s show in front of the TV.
Mah-jongg sticks were traditionally used for scoring and betting in early forms of the game. Antique Mah-jongg sets with scoring sticks are now highly collectible. Wear these earrings when you need to settle a score.
